Teen Challenge - The Proven Cure for the Drug Epidemic
JOJO
High School Dropout Gets a New Chance

JoJo's school record is longer than most other students. Unfortunately, it is not because of the outstanding awards and extra curricular activities listed, but because of the number of times he has been expelled or dropped out of the five different schools he has attended.

Although he is only 18 years of age, JoJo's life has mirrored the aimlessness of the street life to which he has been exposed. He has been involved with gangs and drugs. He never thought much about his future.

One of those times on the streets was different though. Teen Challenge street missionaries came into his neighborhood inviting all the kids hanging out to a street rally. JoJo attended because of curiosity and boredom and was deeply moved by the testimonies and messages he heard.

JoJo began attending the Bible studies conducted at the Teen Challenge Center and his life began to get direction and purpose. He asked for help in enrolling again in school.

A Teen Challenge staff member accompanied him to see the principal of a nearby high school. The principal reviewed JoJo's sad academic history and listened to JoJo as he told of the changes he had been making in his life and asked for one more chance.

Wordlessly the principal arose from his chair and shut his office door to ensure their privacy.

"JoJo, have you accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior?" the principal inquired.

JoJo quickly stated he had made a commitment to the Lord and was learning how to follow the Lord at Teen Challenge.

The principal allowed JoJo to enroll.

JoJo has enthusiastically begun his studies with a joy-filled heart. "I thank God for leading me a step each day. I'm leaving behind all the things I had messed up before and now I'm getting a new chance to do something good with my life."

The friends of Teen Challenge who generously support all these efforts are helping God give a second chance to many young men and women each week. They are eagerly embracing these second chances and making the most of the opportunities given them.

Pray for JoJo and all the others who are being reached through Teen Challenge's street outreaches.
